Starting a Street Church: Prayer Walking

Our friends at KC Underground use a phrase that rings true in every area of disciple making, “We can only go as far and as fast as we can on our knees.”

Before starting any work of God, it’s essential to begin in prayer and continue in prayer.

Here are the elements we use in prayer walking our park:

  • Ask: “Lord, what are you already doing and how can we join you”?

Prayer walk: Claim the space for God. Pray that God will appear in signs, wonders and deliverance. Pray that the evil one would be banished and that God would protect us from Satan’s schemes. Declare God’s truths and blessings over the space and the people.

  • Ask Jesus to give us the power to speak the truth boldly in His name. Ask God to shut down all blasphemy and untruths. Ask God to send us persons of peace that He is preparing in the community who are open to the Gospel and can be gateways to connect with others.

  • Put on the armor of God and we repent of our sins. We humbly submit to God’s strategies and God’s leading. The battle is the Lord’s. We follow the Lord’s heart - not ours. We are obedient.

  • Ask God to send the ordinary and the willing as helpers/ ambassadors, and reconcilers.

  • Always be led by the Holy Spirit - Listen in Love. We are on a journey of faith, hope and love.

So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.’ Luke 17:10 ESV
